You will fall in love with Quimper, the capital of Cornouaille, the moment you arrive.
Enter by the old town and stroll along the cobblestone streets, with their half-timbered houses.
Don't forget to visit the magnificent, recently renovated cathedral (a jewel of Gothic religious art), which you really can't miss, since it has towered over the town centre for centuries. A visit not to be missed for anyone who appreciates old buildings.
The Odet, probably the most beautiful river in France, crosses the old town centre of Quimper. You can cross from one side to the other over little footbridges, all decorated with wonderfully arranged flower displays. On one side, there are lots of shops. On the other, not far from the Tourist Office, are the workshops of the great Brittany embroiderer Pascal Jaouen, and the earthenware makers, Henriot.
Fancy a boat trip? You can get on board a speedboat and go as far as the mouth of the River Odet. Against a background filled with trees, you are sure to be charmed by the little creeks, châteaux and small harbours. A magnificent view awaits you when the majestic bridge over the estuary in Bénodet comes into sight.
